Our Heritage
Jose Jewellers began in 1978 when Noreen de Gouveia started a small business selling jewellery out of suitcases to people in their homes. She also called on Companies to see staff during their lunch hours displaying jewellery and later collecting jewellery which needed to be repaired. With the big demand for jewellery repairs, she opened the company’s first workshop in a small complex in Morehill, Benoni and began specialising in jewellery Manufacturing and Repairs. Her daughters, Carmen and Odette, joined the business straight out of school. Later on, in 1985 we expanded into the retail sector. With 34 years of experience in the industry, our Family legacy and reputation have been established as Jewellers of trust and integrity.
Word of mouth referrals has been our most successful advertising method. We have built excellent relationships with our clients, even down to the third generation. We consider many of our long-standing clients to be part of our family. It’s been wonderful for us to see that many clients that have emigrated abroad still come back and deal with us when they visit South Africa.
With our friendly hands-on approach and individual attention, we strive to make a lasting impression.
Noreen is currently enjoying retirement whilst still being involved in important decisions in the business.
